Anyone else getting hammered with Snow?
« on: February 09, 2010, 03:23:00 am »

We've had 3 snow storms(eastern US) within this month, currently outside there's over 2 feet of snow, and tommorow through wednesday we getting another foot :\ Where I live we usually don't get much snow if any, but now we're getting hammered nonstop, and global warming doesn't exist??!

Its being featured on the news, the battering that east coast us is getting, I guess so much for global warming but it also tends to impact of people who are worse off than other in terms of heating costs. I confess I would not survive in that climate but my sympathies go out to those who are homeless as a consequence of the financial downturn and having to survive in conditions like this.

Spare a thought for those of us who have to suffer the tail end of Sydney summers, about 30c average, bit more rain than you would like but still stubbies and T shirt territory. Rain stopped long enough for me to get my new kitchen brickwork above the floor line and I am now setting up to put some form of floor in it so I can do the rest. Can't put the final floor in as I would mess it up with bricks and cement. Spent most of the day cleaning up the mess and leveling up the ground level inside the foundations. Must build some brick piers for the floor support and as I cannot find any of the right sized hardwoods, I may have to buy the floor joists.

I was stationed in Norfolk back in '94 and it showed one winter (if you call it that) and nobody knew how to drive, basically shut everything down...  How much snow?  close to a half an inch...  the locals said they never seen the stuff in a long time.. BigGrin

It may be cold here in PA but that statement is just simply cold. . . BigGrin

By the way Steve, I can tell you put a lot of love into that house of yours. When you kick the bucket who gets the house? You know if I had a place to live there in Australia I'd consider moving. . . BigGrin

Bill,

being a genuine bachelor who has never been recycled and is definitely not confirmed I am scheming how to take it with me. On the up side at my age they are all turning into blondes (albeit SILVER blondes) so I may do OK yet but to be honest I don't work at it all that hard any more.

I know PA got hit by this last storm, but by some fluke, here in Northwest Jersey we only got like perhaps 3 inches. No idea what we will get from this next one. From what I get from long term Jersey residents(I am not a Jersey Native, born and raised in california) it used to be much more snow in the Winter time. First year on the east coast I had a hard time when Winter hit, not being used to the cold and snow, after close to 10 years in the East The cold dosen't bother me that much. My first 5 years were up in Albany,NY, and that place got SNOW!. New Jersey hasent been bad by comparsion, most snow I have seen here in the last 5 years was about 6 inches.

Spring is on the way............

anunitu ,
Not this year. I'm 50 miles north of Albany and the ground is almost bare. Been cold but no significant snow. About time someone else got it!!

awesome powerful large snowlauncher - check.  plenty of gas - check.  bring it on!  si is supposed to get hammered.  no i dont have a snowblower this thing devours 18 inch high snow and launches it 35 to 40 feet!  :-)
